Consulting

Since the end of the Netflix Prize competition, I've managed to stay busy working on interesting projects. I've been lucky enough to win "best paper" awards at 2 conferences: the 2010 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference and RecSys 2011, the 5th ACM Conference on Recommender Systems (Yehuda Koren was my coauthor for the RecSys paper). So it's been fun to keep a toe in the academic world. However, I'm primarily focused on industry applications. I've been self-employed for a couple of years now as an analytics consultant. I work with several different companies on a variety of problems in machine learning, recommendation systems, statistics, and related topics. If necessary, I am happy to develop production-ready code in any one of a variety of languages (Python, C++, C#, etc.). If you're looking for any help with any problems related to one of my specialties, feel free to contact me at joe _ sill at yahoo dot com.

  1. Hey Joe
I'd be interested in talking with about a start up we are getting ready to launch and I think your expertise would match well with what we are doing. If you have a chance it would be great to connect
